ITINERARY

1             Friday, 29 March 2024                    Auckland
Arrival day – check in to Auckland hotel, then at 3pm we set off for Liberty, one of the great All-Time OGs and Champion NZ Brewery. Love a good Knife Party? …Legendary C!tra?… Sample the range, chat with the owners, then head to Steve in rural Riverhead for an inspirational Hallertau tasting tray of the core range and seasonals plus wood-fired welcome dinner in their fantastic biergarten, featuring a local fresh and seasonal menu and luckily beers numbered 1 – 10…
2             Saturday, 30 March 2024              Auckland
Up and at em! Daytrip to Matakana featuring an outdoor axe throwing comp (there may be a Trans Tasman challenge here…), and 8 Wired with Soren at Barrelworks. NZ legend, barrel genius, Overall Champion New Zealand Brewing Company for 2023! Coupled with 2023 Champion NZ Beer for Wild Feijoa, in its 10th vintage! Snacks and a tasting tray. Next to Sawmill Brewery: B-corp certified, these guys do it differently and well, a beautiful natural ambience in the countryside setting – great long late lunch grazing style from local artisan suppliers and their tap range of 15 across a tasting tray of choice.

3             Sunday, 31 March 2024                 Auckland
Rest, recover or roll on… Optional Urbanaut lunch. You’ll like their innovative beer selection, including the ‘blenders’ and excellent deconstructed food. Or a free day to go to Waiheke Island for Alibi or wine, there’s always local taphouses Behemoth for Chur! (DUMP the Trump!), Epic in Onehunga, or Galbraith’s for a solid local traditional style pub close to town. Mix and Match for lunch and dinner – the choice is yours.
4             Monday, 1 April 2024                     Rotorua
Travel via Brewaucracy (‘heavily traditional, classic beer, flavoured beer’ in their own words) and Bootleg (Higher ABV Stouts and Belgians Untapped #5 for NZ) Hamilton to sample their eclectic brews with a snack, and on to Croucher Rotorua for seasonals over a paddle and nibbles. Check in then a brilliant evening cultural performance in the forest, Hangi inclusive.
5             Tuesday, 2 April 2024                     Wellington
Morning free for Redwood riding, luge, Polynesian pools or other mud malarkey. Travel to Duncans to sample their pastry specialities in Paraparaumu, and dinner with Kieran Haslett-Moore at Salt and Wood for a modern take on BBQ. Low and slow smoked meats are served with the best seasonal vegetables and breads baked by their sister bakery. Plus his North End Beer “Inspired by Europe Fermented in Waikanae” drawing on European traditions. From smoked doppelbocks to mixed fermentation saisons and lots in between. Then on to Wellington to settle in for the next adventure.
6             Wednesday, 3 April 2024              Wellington
Optional Te Papa museum in the am… then…don’t like to decide? Lets go to Fork and Brewer for tastings, with over 40 taps and lunch, Weta workshop hands on tour and Double Vision for a tasting. Late arvo you can explore Wellington central at your leisure, or go on the self-guided brewpub central city walking tour with the best the city has to offer – Fortune Favours, Whistling Sisters, Choice Bros, Heyday.
7             Thursday, 4 April 2024                   Wellington
Seriusly, you thought we had left out? Garage Project (Legends #2) for a chat, beers and eats. Free time to catch up on more you may have not got to on the walking tour, then at 7pm the Highlight beer-matched local multi-course dinner at Ortega. Bar options suggested for the later pm – Panhead, Malthouse, Mean Doses, Goldings, Hashigo Zake. PLENTY to chose from. Capital P.
8             Friday, 5 April 2024                         Nelson
Fly in to Nelson in the morning and straight into what they do best, and are World Famous for – Hops! Visit a Hop farm and NZ’s oldest pub – Moutere Inn for laid back lunch (and a few beers of course!)
9             Saturday, 6 April 2024                    Nelson Marchfest 2024
We’ve made it! Entry to New Zealands Best Little Beer Festival from noon – around 15 breweries, Beer, Wine, Cider, food, bands and homebrew education experiences…
10           Sunday, 7 April 2024                       Depart home
