A Matakana Craft Beer tour across 2 venues. 8 Wired Brewery with Bohemian Cider too, and Sawmill Brewery. Iconic breweries and beer/cider tasting paddles are included, plus some fun hurling axes, and you’ll not go hungry – lunch and dinner (2nd lunch!) too! Perfect for those keen to explore craft beer and organic cider and support local with some artisan seasonal food – from novice to connoisseur there will be something to please.
Our menu has a focus on using sustainable produce, lots of local and often foraged ingredients. The dishes change often, along with the seasons. We have our own smoker so we smoke our own meat, fish and veggies. It’s real, honest food, full of flavour and the dishes are designed to pass around the table so everyone can interact and enjoy the same shared experience.
Your craft beer tour includes:
Artisan Craft beer, Organic cider & Late Long Lunch
8 Wired Brewing.
Soren Eriksen is an icon in the beer scene, NZ and Worldwide. Flavoursome innovative beers from hyper hoppy IPAs, Saisons, Porters and Stouts, then the barrel aging programme! ALWAYS reinventing, your tastebuds will awaken. Noted on prestigious Ratebeer.com list of “100 Best Brewers in the World”, as the only Southern Hemisphere brewery. Kudos
Made from wild fermentations with Organic Apples including the skins and pulp – like a good red wine. Their natural cider making philosophy has no filtration or added sulphites. Look out for the Tamarillo Cider with Amarillo Beer hops! Their ciders have won awards and trophies, chief cider maker Justin Oliver is head judge on the New World supermarkets panel.
Fancy your skill in the Military Arts? You will be taught the technique of axe hurling from qualified instructors, then it’s time to try your hand for real ‘actively supervised’ of course! A bit of friendly competition is to be had and we’ll see who comes out on top. Note: this activity operates under very robust Health and Safety Policy and within strict guidelines.
Late 2019 a devastating fire destroyed this Matakana icon. The beer industry rallied to their support, they are BACK! The menu has a focus on sustainable produce, lots of local & often foraged ingredients. The dishes change a lot, along with the seasons, using their own smoker for meat, fish and veggies. It’s real, honest food, full of flavour designed to pass around. Enjoy!
